Crafty Mason

So last night I was busy cleaning and found a box full of mason jars in our basement that we usually use for canning.  I decided to clean some up and use them for organization upstairs in my bedroom.  After I cleaned one up I decided I would decorate it and use it to put my pens in.

This is what I started with...

I took some old scrable letters and decided I'd spell out words that I like, and words that describe parts of me, and I also put my name on the jar, to make it more personal.  After getting the letters on there I decided that it needed some color so I also added some buttons to give it a pop of color :)

Heres the finished project.. I also think it makes a great vase :)

Can you say Delish?

So not to toot my own horn, but I've always had a knack for cooking, and my momma always did say the way to man's heart is thru his stomach.  You'd think I'd have a man by now? ha ha. Anyways for my step mothers bday I decided to make an amazing dinner, her son is in the military and I knew it'd mean a lot to go all out...especailly with some southern cookin comfort food.  For my main dish I made bbq ribs.  I've only made ribs like twice before, so i'm still in the experimenting stage.  But when cooking my ribs I boil them for about 2 hours on med heat.  After they are done cooking I soak them in my secret recipe bbq sauce for about another hour, after they've soaked I finish them off on the grill to give them a nice charcoal flavor.

I also made my favorite... Cowboy beans, they're kinda like baked beans but they have hamburger meat and more of a spicy bbq flavor.

This time of year you can't go wrong with corn on the cob :)
And to finish the meal off, I made a cookie pizza.  The crust is actually a yellow cake box mix, and the "sauce" is cream cheese, cool whip & sugar.  Now usually I like to do kiwi and strawberries on top of the cookie pizza but the kiwi's I bought were sour.  So I just used the strawberries.
And for the final product: A yummy southern home cooked meal :)

Cause I'm bossy :)

Ever since Buddy started his Cake boss show, I have been obsessed.  Theres no tellin how many times I've caught myself drooling at the television screen at some of his delicious creations.  So when his new show aired Kitchen boss, I was so excited because he was going to be posting his recipes online, so that everyone could try them at home.  Everyone loves home cookin, especially where I grew up at, living in the south your almost expected to know how to cook.  My grandma taught me how to cook, and I'm sure some day I'll pass that on to my future family.  I've become such a good cook that grandma thinks she can't teach me anything else, but I'm still waiting to learn how to make her famous Chicken Noodles...and no I'm not talkin about soup... anyways I found a couple of his recipes that I wanted to try and you can find them here... Kitchen Boss Recipes  I decided to make the chicken sorrentino fusilli and the roasted asparagus with crispy breadcrumbs.

When making the chicken sorrentino fusilli I substituted a couple ingredients, living in such a small town can be hard to get things such as prosciutto.  So instead of using prosciutto I got fresh thin sliced honey ham from the deli, and instead of using the recipe for his breadcrumbs I used just plain Italian breadcrumbs, and I used some buitoni marinara sauce instead of making my own.  And this is how the Chicken sorrentino fusilli turned out...

The recipe is supposed to be only enough for two people so I had to modify it a bit to feed my family.
When making the asparagus there is a recipe for bread crumbs but I used store bought and they were still yummy.

I also made Cesar salads to go with the meal, I'm usually not to big on asparagus but it actually turned out to be really good.

Santa Baby

This year at Christmas, all of the employee's at Brown's got to bring in a Christmas stocking so everyone at work including customers could slip nice little notes and what not's into each others stockings, like we do every year.  Now usually we play jokes on each other and put crude items into people's stockings.  Last year we put lube and huge granny panties into Dave's stocking since he's such the lady's man. ha ha.  But this year I decided i didn't want the run of the mill, plain Jane Christmas stocking.  So I decided I would make my own, and make it personal.  I decided that I would make mine girly, and I wanted to include my name and my favorite college football team, and this is what I came up with..........
